Desenvolvimento e transformações desportivas no Qatar
Resumo
Este estudo investigou o desenvolvimento e a transformação do desporto no Qatar, com especial enfoque nas estratégias utilizadas, no impacto registado até à data e nos desafios que o desenvolvimento trouxe. O estudo foi desenvolvido utilizando as escolas de pensamento de Stern e Ojendal sobre o desenvolvimento: o desenvolvimento como catalisador para a estratégia de construção do Estado e o desenvolvimento como um impasse. Os dados foram recolhidos e analisados em revistas, relatórios governamentais e não governamentais, bem como em jornais online que foram utilizados durante o decorrer desta pesquisa. A principal conclusão do estudo é que a transformação e o desenvolvimento do desporto no Qatar são uma moeda com dois lados: um lado da moeda é o sucesso e o impacto, enquanto o outro lado são os desafios ou danos que está a causar. Por isso, ambos os autores defenderam que é necessário que o desenvolvimento tenha uma face humana: melhorando a vida dos mais vulneráveis. Por isso, é necessário que o Qatar enfrente estes desafios causados pelos seus enormes investimentos no desporto.
