Women’s football: conquest or concession for interests?
Abstract
From an analysis of various articles from newspapers and periodicals and books and articles related to the topic, it can be seen that the historic presence of women in the world of sports - particularly football - indicates a trajectory permeated by power relations and domination masculine, linked to a history of prohibitions and prejudices, in an allegation of biological “masculinization” due to the supposed demand of the footballer for gifts that, culturally, are considered virile, such as strength and speed, seen supposedly as exclusive attributes of men. So far, perhaps no big news. However, in the new times that portend achievements and new visions, the predictions, whether in sports management, investments or in circulating discourses, remain, although they progressively dissipate. In contemporary times, in correspondence with media and capitalist interests, women's football is emerging, although along paths that are still arduous. Victory of the resistance of the hitherto renegades or the interest of the system that sees the modality as yet another path to possible new monetary gains?
