Importance of the Situational Method for teaching Collective Sports

Abstract

The situational method (MS) has been effective for the development of athletes' tactical and technical capacity, stimulating cognitive processes such as: perception, decision making, learning, among others. The objective was to identify and discuss the use of MS and its importance for learning team sports (EC). The study is a literature review, using the databases: Bireme, Pubmed and Scielo. Studies in Portuguese and English were selected, using the terms: collective sport, teaching methods, situational method and sport teaching. After identifying and discussing the importance of MS for the learning of EC, it was identified that this is an effective way for the development of the teaching-learning and training process. It is necessary to learn all teaching methods, and to deepen the knowledge concerning the MS; its applicability will provide a greater understanding of the game and, consequently, increase the athlete's effectiveness.
