Profile of the menstrual cycle in Elite football: A relation of body composition suggested
Abstract
Objective: we aimed to analyze the profile of the menstrual cycle in female soccer athletes with patterns of fat percentage suggested by the modern scientific literature. Materials and Methods: 28 elite athletes with fat percentage between 12 and 15% with monitoring and recording of the menstrual cycle for 03 months. Results: The results show that most of the athletes have irregular menstrual cycle (92.86%). Discussion: The results are consistent with the literature states that the woman is placed in competitive sport. Thus when we view the combination of results, we find that even with a fat percentage suggested in research, the athletes showed irregularities in their menstrual cycle. Conclusion: we conclude that the athletes with the fat between 12 and 15% in vigorous training and competitions for high performance has irregularities in the menstrual cycle. Thus, we must expand the studies in several other percentages of fat to check if the influence is directly related to the percentage of fat, training or a combination of these.
