Abstract

The modern game was created in England with the formation of The Football Association. Although it was initially practiced by men, it was soon also practiced by women. However, to understand the phenomenon of football it is important to know the political aspects that caused a rupture in the sport, especially in the female modality, which consequently generated asymmetries until the present day. The research is based on a survey of data from bibliographic and documentary sources (FIFA Technical Reports), and the methodological procedures that guide this work are exploratory-descriptive. The research problem was to identify the dynamics of the world-system from the migration of athletes in women's football, demonstrating the migratory flows in the movement of female footballers in the Global South-North relationship, observing the European, Asian and American markets, and their influence on field results. In this perspective, the research aimed to identify the dynamics of the world-system from the migration of athletes. Thus, the study aimed to contribute to the understanding of globalization in women's football, demonstrating the migratory flows in the circulation of athletes in the Periphery-Center relationship in the World Cups FIFA and Olympic Games and pointing the specificities of the football market practiced by women.
