A parent's perspective in relation to the sports participation of children on a futsal school
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to verify the parents' perspective regarding the sports practice of their children in a futsal school. Therefore, we sought to understand the influence, participation, involvement and expectations of parents in relation to their children's sports practice. The study partners were intentionally defined, being three parents and one mother, who have children in the under-12 category of a futsal initiation school. To obtain the information of this work was used as main procedure to the semistructured interview and the definition of the categories of analysis. The main results showed that the influence of the parents in relation to the sports practice of their children exists, even in an imperceptible way on the part of the collaborators, as well as some care on the part of the parents in not subjecting them to the precocious specialization and training routines. It is extremely positive the participation and the involvement of the collaborating parents in the sport practiced by their children. Finally, it is understood that there is still a lack of knowledge on the part of some parents, and the lack of precise, convinced and enlightened arguments about the methodology used in the school of their children. Based on these results, it was possible to conclude that the perspective of the parents is that the children continue to practice sports in a way that brings them happiness, learn to cope with the adversities of group work, and, finally, to participate in more competitions.
