Efficacy of counterattacks by the way possession is recovered in futsal
Abstract
This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the counter-attack in a men's futsal team, comparing the way in which possession is recovered (tackles and interceptions) and investigating whether the place where possession is recovered influences the effectiveness of the counter-attack. The data was obtained from the performance analysis reports of a men's futsal team. 145 possession recovery actions were identified, with 56.6% coming from interceptions and 43.4% from tackles. The investigation into the location of possession recovery revealed that the defensive midfield was the most common, but the highest rate of shots on goal occurred in the attacking midfield (60.0%). Although interceptions were more frequent, the effectiveness in generating shots and goals was similar between the two forms of possession recovery.
