The Dermatoglyphy: fingerprints as a characteristic brand of young football players according to their playing position and category
Abstract
The aim of the study was described as dermatoglyphic marks present in football players according to their playing position and category. The sample comprised of 67 male football players from a team participating in the 2019 São Paulo championship, in the categories Sub13, Sub15 and Sub17, compared using the Dermatogliphic method proposed by Cummins and Midlo (1961), through the Dermatogliptic Reader®, validated by Nodari Júnior and Heberle (2014). The Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS), version 20.0, was used for statistical analysis, establishing a significance level of p≤0.05. When compared by the category they represent, with regard to the fingerprint figures, the difference was identified in the middle finger of the right hand (MDT3 p=0.016). The analysis of residuals adjusted that the differences between football athletes compared by the categories they play occur for Sub15 for Arc figure (A) and Sub17 for Verticilo figure (W). An analysis of the fingerprint line counts did not identify a significant difference between football athletes compared by position in which they play. it was possible to observe that the athletes, when observed by the categories they represent, differ, the arc figure (A) with a characteristic of Sub15 and a whorl figure (W) as a characteristic of Sub17.
