The number of fouls had on influence on the outcome of World Futsal 2008
Abstract
The objective of this article is to determine if the number of lacks of the teams interfered in the result of the world championship of futsal of 2008. Material and Methods: Through the official site of FIFA, we verified the statistics of all games of World championship of Futsal 2008, making a comparison later among the number of committed faults in the games by the participant teams, we analyzed if the team that made more necessary or less faults went to the winner of the match, dividing the analysis by phases that the championship had and later analysis of all of the games, verifying in the end if the amount of faults was proportional to the winner team. Results: In the 1st phase less faulty teams took advantage. In the 2nd and 3rd phase the faultiest teams took advantage. In the final phase the two games were analyzed, there was a game that the less faulty team won and a tie in the result of another game. We obtained a result in the total of 56 games, without taking into account the phases, the less faulty teams won more games. Discussion: The results found in the present study indicated that the number of faults of the participant teams didn’t interfere in the final result of the world championship of futsal of 2008. In the 1st phase we can say that the technical/ tactics differences, the way of disputes and or the good physical preparation of the athletes in the beginning of the competition, might have contributed to the result, however, in the three following phases the faultiest teams had the best results, we can suppose that this panorama was altered by the largest balance among the classified teams and or the fall of the physical condition of the athletes, due to the accumulate of games, however, at the final, the obtained placement by the teams, we will see that the faultiest teams were worse classified in relation to the less faulty teams.
