Analysis of outcomes of fouls in the offensive court in the brazilian futsal elite
Abstract
The set-piece strategy originated from fouls on the offensive court is a good opportunity to attack the opposing goal. The study analyzed the outcomes of these situations in the Brazilian futsal elite. To do so, it qualified the outcomes, analyzed the relationship between them, the location of the fouls and their distance from the goal and, also, the impact of the dead ball on the results of the games. The sample consisted of 58 fouls (7.25±4.029), taken from eight games of the 2019 Futsal League quarterfinals. Data were collected from images generated by the SporTV channel, Futsal League broadcast channels and Youtube. The OBS Studio program was used for video editing. Occurrence measures (absolute and relative values), mean and standard deviation were adopted for the statistical treatment. The main results: (a) there were more undesirable than desirable outcomes; (b) the central region had fewer faults than the lateral ones. But, considering only the desirable outcomes, it accumulated higher values when compared to the lateral regions separately and, considering only the undesirable outcomes, it accumulated lower values when compared to the lateral regions separately; (c) the combination “pass followed by shot”, regardless of the distance from the goal, can lead to more goal danger than the others; (d) the free kick set did not impact game results. It is concluded that there is a high margin of development for this situation, especially for lateralized faults. On the other hand, fouls in the central region and close to the goal have greater offensive potential and should be avoided.
